What is Waiting Period?
Most health policies exclude pre-existing diseases for the first 1–4 years, maternity for 9 months to 6 years, and specific conditions (hernia, cataract) for 1–2 years. The only way to shorten most waiting periods is to port to another insurer — the credit period from the old policy carries over.
