Non-Convertible Debenture

An NCD is a corporate bond listed on Indian stock exchanges. Cannot convert to equity (unlike convertibles). Typically 7-10% coupon, 3-10 year tenure. Interest taxed at slab rate; capital gains on listed NCDs qualify for LTCG after 1 year at 10% without indexation.
