Definition

What is SGB?

SGBs are RBI-issued bonds denominated in grams of gold. Pay 2.5% interest annually on top of gold price appreciation. 8-year tenor with exit options from year 5. Capital gains on redemption are tax-free. Better than physical gold for most investors.
